The short version
Monthly plans are non-refundable. Annual plans come with a 30-day money-back guarantee — full refund if you ask within 30 days of being charged, no refunds after that. You can cancel anytime and keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. Free and open-source products (Cairn) cost nothing, so they're not part of this policy.
1. Monthly Plans
Monthly subscriptions are non-refundable. Because the term is short and renews each month, we do not issue refunds for monthly charges, including partial months. If you cancel a monthly plan, your subscription will not renew and you keep access until the end of the current paid month.
2. Annual Plans — 30-Day Money-Back Window
Annual subscriptions include a 30-day money-back window. If you request a refund within 30 days of the date you were charged for an annual term, we will refund that annual payment in full and end your subscription.
- After the 30-day window, the annual payment is non-refundable.
- The window applies to the initial annual charge and to each annual renewal charge (measured from the date of that charge).
- This window is a courtesy guarantee; it does not limit any non-waivable rights you may have under Washington State or other applicable consumer-protection law.
3. How to Request a Refund or Cancel
Send your request through our contact form — our sole support channel. Please include the email address on the account and, if you have it, the order or invoice reference. To meet the annual window, your request must reach us within 30 days of the charge. Approved refunds are issued to your original payment method through Stripe and typically appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.
4. "Cancel Anytime, Keep Access to End of Period"
You can cancel at any time. When you cancel:
- your subscription stops auto-renewing;
- you keep full access until the end of the billing period you have already paid for (the rest of the month for monthly plans, or the rest of the year for annual plans); and
- cancellation by itself is not a refund — see Sections 1 and 2 for whether a refund applies.
5. Proration
We generally do not pro-rate or refund unused time when you cancel, downgrade, or reduce quantity (for example, fewer Lookout servers) mid-period — except as expressly stated in this policy or as required by law. Reductions and downgrades take effect at your next renewal.
6. Chargebacks & Disputes
If you believe a charge is incorrect, please contact us first through the contact form — we can usually resolve issues faster than a bank dispute. Filing a chargeback or payment dispute (instead of requesting a refund under this policy) may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account and access while the dispute is investigated. We reserve the right to contest chargebacks we believe are improper and to provide our records to Stripe and the card networks.
7. Free & Open-Source Products
Cairn and any other free or open-source products carry no charge and are therefore excluded from this refund policy. Cairn is licensed under AGPL-3.0 and runs in your own environment.
8. Relationship to the Terms
This policy is part of, and should be read together with, our Terms of Service. If there is any conflict regarding refunds and cancellation, this policy controls.
